Carter Family Practice isn’t affiliated with or owned by a hospital system—and that’s exactly how we like it. We’re a family-owned and operated practice, built on relationships, not red tape.
Founded by Karen Carter, APRN, FNP-C, CFP was created from a passion for providing personalized, accessible care without the bureaucracy. Karen has called Central Florida home for over 30 years, after growing up in Birmingham, England and spending her early adult years in Virginia. Her career began as a local 911 paramedic, and that experience shaped her belief that care should meet patients where they are—whether that’s on the front porch, by video, or in the comfort of their living room.
Her husband and co-owner, John Carter, brings deep roots to the practice. His family has been part of the Central Florida community for over 75 years, ever since his grandparents moved here from Tennessee. Together, they’ve created a practice that blends modern medicine with old-fashioned values.
They are joined by Keyza, a trusted Medical Assistant whom Karen has worked with and mentored since 2018—bringing experience, heart, and consistency to every visit.
